Department of Health Administration and Policy Health Informatics Faculty and Graduate Program Coordinator - Instructional FacultyThe Department of Health Administration and Policy within the College of Public Health at George Mason University is launching an open-rank search for a term 12-month (non-tenure track) instructional faculty in health informatics.
The candidate will be part of health informatics program that offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees in health informatics.
Depending upon faculty expertise, teaching responsibilities will involve teaching of specialized health informatics related technical courses across Health Informatics program curriculum.
In addition to teaching a variety of health informatics technical courses, the successful candidate will also have administrative duties as Coordinator of the Health Informatics Graduate Degree (MSHI) program (online and traditional).
Growth of the health informatics programs and our commitment to offering all online programs of study has created the need for a unified approach to managing student career and academic advising to ensure curriculum goal attainment regardless of the matriculation pathway and to the same or equivalent academic program experiences and student outcomes, regardless of matriculation modality.
Strong candidates will have a doctoral degree in health informatics or fields and areas of expertise related to health informatics.
This is a state-funded, full-time (12-month) instructional (non-tenure-track) faculty position.
The appointment will begin in August for Academic Year 2023-2024.

Responsibilities:
Teach technical and non-technical courses across the department's health informatics curriculum, focused on specialized health informatics topics;Perform administrative duties related to MSHI student admission, advisement and professional development as the Graduate Program Coordinator.
This includes working with departmental administrative staff to fine tune course scheduling and problem solve student matriculation issues;Participate in student and faculty recruitment and academic program outreach activities; andServe on College and University level faculty committees and working groups.

Qualifications:
Must have obtained an earned doctoral degree prior to the employment start date in Health Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related engineering or health professional terminal degree;Strong interpersonal communication skills; andInterest in academic teaching and advising in a Stem-H related program.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Demonstrate specialized training and/or experience in health informatics related work;Experience in academic program teaching (including online teaching); andActive membership in AMIA, AUPHA, ACHE, HIMSS or other relevant professional societies.
Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
