Job DescriptionAs a GI Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing holistic and systematic therapeutic care to our GI Oncology patients.
Your responsibilities will include assessing patients, managing their care under the supervision of a qualified MD, and exercising independent judgment in diagnosis and medical procedures, adhering to the licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the designated Scope of Practice/Protocol for Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants.
In this dynamic role, you will be performing inpatient consultations for GI oncology patients, overseeing their care during active treatment while admitted to the hospital, managing treatment-related symptoms and toxicities, and offering valuable education about their disease and radiation therapies.
You will collaborate seamlessly with other disciplines such as surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiology, physical therapy, nutrition, home health, hospice, and psychosocial support departments to ensure timely and comprehensive patient evaluation and treatment.
Furthermore, as a compassionate healthcare professional, you will provide individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to overcome any healthcare system barriers they may encounter.
