Coastal Engineer/Scientist

Dewberry has an excellent opportunity for an Entry to Mid-level Coastal Engineer or Scientist in our resilience practice.
Location of the selected person is flexible; however, Virginia, North Carolina, or Florida offices are preferred.
The candidate will collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, planners, and data scientists in our Resilience Solutions Group.
This group has delivered award-winning products for a wide range of projects in the resilience space.
The candidate will have the opportunity to apply their skillset to efforts that encompass numerical and geospatial modeling of hazards, coastal processes including episodic and long-term erosion, future condition assessments, including sea level rise, evaluation of flood reduction concepts, analytical approaches and product development to support hazard awareness, risk assessment, and resilience planning.

Responsibilities Leverage coastal process and dynamics expertise to lead or support technical needs of diverse projects across the municipal, state, and federal markets.
Lead or contribute to the development of analytical approaches to meet project requirements.
Productively collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, planners, and scientists for integrated project delivery.
Participate in client and public engagement meetings.
Develop reports, provide formal and informal presentations to clients.
Demonstrate subject matter leadership and professional development through external publications and professional organizations.

D.
in coastal, ocean or marine engineering or sciences, or related field with demonstrated expertise in coastal dynamics.
1 to 7 years of experience.
Experience with applied approaches for data and statistical analyses, modeling and/or product development of coastal dynamics and/or systems.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Experience with coastal modeling software and analytical packages.
Experience with FEMA Coastal flood studies and knowledge of FEMA's Guidelines and Specifications is a plus Proficiency in data integration through use of analytical tools such as GIS, Matlab, Python, R, etc.

Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of the analysis of coastal dynamics, including water levels, waves, erosion etc.
Preferred candidates will have experience evaluating coastal dynamics in the context of climate change and a fundamental understanding of inter-relationships between coastal dynamics and changes in the natural and built environments.
Less experienced candidates will work under the direction of senior staff, whereas more experienced candidates may work independently.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
