General Description:
The Public Safety Systems Engineer is responsible for managing the IT infrastructure and application support requirements for the College's Public Safety department.
Duties and Tasks:
Serves as the primary technical lead for the College's Public Safety technology portfolio including the CAD/RMS, mobile data terminals, dispatch, evidence lockers, and alerting systems.
Additional support responsibilities include the management and maintenance of the College's Cisco Video Surveillance System and its components.
Will be centrally assigned to the IT Operations Unit to ensure alignment to enterprise standards and provides direct support to enterprise initiatives related to server and advanced desktop management.

Qualifications:
Required KSAs:
Ability to manage, plan, engineer, implement and maintain an enterprise wide server environment.
Ability to diagnose and analyze Windows Server / Linux / VMWare / Citrix / IIS / SCCM/ Cisco VSM and other related hardware failures and problems and to provide necessary solutions or consultation as needed.
Knowledge in the deployment, installation and repair of video surveillance technologies and equipment.
In depth understanding of public safety operations and procedures in order to assist with public safety related operations is required.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Significant experience in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or related IT disciplines Significant experience in computer networking/communication system engineering Significant experience performing system implementation and administration of Windows Servers in a VMWare environment.
Must be able to Pass CJIS Level 4 and FBI and Virginia State Police background check.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Significant experience with Windows Server, Linux, VMWare, Cisco UCS, Citrix, Advanced Desktop Management Solutions (MS EndPoint Configuration Manager/Intune/JAMF).

Extensive knowledge of Windows Server technologies, VmWare, and Cisco UCS Significant experience supporting and maintaining Cisco Video Surveillance technologies Significant experience supporting Public Safety IT systems such as computer-aided dispatch, mobile data terminals, and radio communications Demonstrated understanding of network principles (such as network topologies, network addressing schemes, subnets, firewalls, and security segregation) Demonstrated understanding of multi-site concepts/architecture for storage, network, and hypervisor technologies.
