Psychiatric Emergency Clinician 1(nights)

Overview:
Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a Psychiatric Emergency Clinician to join our team of behavioral health professionals supporting our Emergency Departments. This role is full time and will work 4 10-hour night shifts to provide consultation to patients who present to the Emergency Department onsite at Fairfax ER, via telepsych at other Inova ERs or Urgent Care facilities or at IPAC walk in Clinic under the supervision of a licensed clinician; maintaining therapeutic milieu to provide a safe environment for crisis stabilization.
Responsibilities:
Formulates treatment options to include patient needs and preferences, with focus on the best practice of utilizing the least restrictive intervention that will work for the patient, while maintaining all appropriate safety standards. Seeks appropriate supervision for those patients presenting in the Emergency Department or IPAC whose assessment or outcome is particularly difficult or complex.
Presents case(s) and makes recommendations for next level care or admission to on call with Emergency Department Physicians and/or on-call Psychiatrist, inpatient/outpatient treatment providers, or IPAC Physician. Participates in TDO hearings. Uses an integrated approach toward patient outcomes.
Supports therapeutic milieu concepts, as defined in our mission statement. Assesses individuals, including individuals considered to be seriously mentally ill (SMI), experiencing psychiatric and/or behavioral high risk crisis, to ensure the safety of the patient, family, and community, in accordance with hospital and Behavioral Health guidelines.
Works closely with Community Service Board staff to ensure patient safety and appropriate care for patients, in accordance with Virginia statutes, exploring all resources available.
Documents assessment, decision making and patient outcomes, in accordance with hospital and Behavioral Health guidelines. Presents and maintains all information necessary to secure preauthorization for insured patients.
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years working in psychiatric or mental health field with the seriously mentally ill
Masters of Social Work (MSW); Masters in Counseling or related masters program.
Must be licensed as an LCSW or LPC within 2 years of hire
BLS Certification by the American Heart Association upon hire
