Description
We are seeking an experiencedASE Master A Mechanicfor our Fairfax division. The ASE Master A Mechanic will perform routine maintenance and repairs on all fleet vehicles and shop equipment and facility. The Mechanic is required to perform all other duties as required and needed to operate the maintenance department within reason to their scope of ability or as directed by the Shop Foreman, Maintenance Manager, General Manager. This position also requires the ASE Master A Mechanic to be able to do all mechanical and electrical repairs on vehicles such as engine and transmission replacements, alignments, air conditioning repairs, drivability diagnosis and electrical and wiring problems. In addition the ASE Master A Mechanic is required to complete all related documents legibly and in a timely manner. It is also recommended that this position, if possible should receive training in order for them to assist or stand in for the Shop Foreman. These are minimum duties for this position and may be modified by the General Manager to reflect the specific requirements of the department. The ASE Master A Mechanic must perform all other duties as required and needed to operate the division or as directed by the division management.
Requirements
Must have a Current CDL license Class B and with a Passenger endorsement and air brakes.
Must be self-motivated and able to perform without constant or immediate supervision.
Must be able to properly prioritize, implement and manage work schedules, projects and assignments.
Must have the ability to track and control parts inventories, vendors and suppliers.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in written and oral formats.
Must have computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and Microsoft outlook.
Must have technical competence with light / medium duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
Must display initiative, professionalism, candor and tact at all times.
Must have 6 years' experience as a full time journey level mechanic.
Must be ASE certified.
Experience as a certified A Mechanic preferred.
Diesel experience preferred.
This position is considered safety sensitive and subject Experience with transit bus maintenance preferred.
This position requires availability to work a varied schedule.
