Mid-Level Transportation Engineer

is currently seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as a mid-level transportation engineer in our Fairfax, VA office for roadway design projects including complex primary, secondary, and interstate improvements and interchange designs. Experience with MicroStation and Geopak is required, and experience with VDOT criteria is preferred. Candidates will be working with VDOT, local counties, private developers and contractors on design-bid-build and design-build delivery projects.
Candidate will serve as a senior transportation engineer overseeing a variety of transportation and roadway improvement projects including pedestrian improvement projects, secondary, primary, and interstate widening and reconstruction projects, interchange design projects, roadway drainage design, and conceptual design development, as well as direct coordination of younger engineers and leadership of a team of project and staff engineers. Work responsibilities may include:
Conceptual design development
Horizontal alignment design
Vertical geometry design
Superelevation calculations and gore calculations
Intersection geometric design, sight distance analysis, and turning movement analysis
Development of right-of-way acquisition plans
Development of construction plans, details, and quantity and cost estimates
Coordination with water resource, structural, and survey staff
Preparing written reports
Coordination and communication with sub-consultants
Interfacing with clients and other contractors at project meetings and conference calls
Training and mentoring entry level and junior engineers
B.S. Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, with emphasis in roadway design
Licensed Professional Engineer
6 to 12-years transportation-related experience
Demonstrated knowledge of roadway geometric design
Knowledge of and experience with MicroStation v8i and Geopak
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in basic MS Office software
Team player
