Senior Systems Engineer

Duties: Design, review and implementation of new databases and indexes to support projects and upgrades. Monitor and tune critical SQL parameters and KPI's. Configure, monitor and maintain data integrity, user access, alerts and escalations. Review service related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, and monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs. Own, track and resolve database related incidents and requests. Setup and monitor database mirroring, SQL Server Clusters. Monitor performance, replication, SSRS and SSIS issues including resolution. Design, develop and support scripts for batch processing, SSIS packages, triggers and stored procedures. Develop/maintain standard operational procedures and implement suitable best practices. Work with the engineering team to come up with strategic solutions. Provide COOP and Business Continuity Support. Develop and implement risk and opportunity management plans, identify, assess and track risks, and develop mitigation plans. Identify program objectives and technical development strategy. Prepare System Engineering Management Plan, Work Breakdown Structures, master schedules, and key performance parameters. Collect, analyze, track, and report program metrics. Act as a mentor to junior team members. Manage customer and stakeholder needs, generate and develop requirements, and perform functional analysis. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
Requirements: Employer will accept Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or related technical field with eight years of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation OR Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or related technical field with four years of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include: 1) SQL Server Database Administration; 2) SQL Clustering and Windows Clustering; 3) Microsoft System Center Operation Manager (SCOM) to implement SQL Management Pack; 4) Architect the SQL Server solution for various applications; 5) Multi-Terabyte Database Consolidation; 6) Technical Project Management experience to manage large scale infrastructure projects. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
