Reports directly to the Emergency Management & Disaster Mitigation, Engineering Branch Manager
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze complex problems to apply engineering principles to conditions observed in the field.
Provide technical, cost estimating, disaster recovery and/or management services with an emphasis on engineering and the understanding of design principles and engineering specifications.
Offer solutions to engineering problems.
Conduct preliminary damage assessments and other assessments in the field with Federal, State and local officials. Perform field inspections of damaged facilities to document disaster-related damage.
Serve as liaison to public and non-profit stakeholders, responsible for explaining to applicants the regulations, strategies, policies, and procedures that govern range of federal disaster assistance programs in gaining complete eligibility.
Prepare written reports, such as study narratives and case reviews.
Conduct independent technical reviews of work performed by other engineers
Support other disaster, emergency management, and mitigation planning projects, as assigned.
DECISION-MAKING
Supervises, coordinates and reviews technical work within department for accuracy, completeness, and soundness of methodology. In addition, serves in this capacity for other departments and for reviews of externally produced work.
Advises staff on special technical problems;
Outlines more difficult problems and methods of approach.
Prioritize work and select appropriate courses of action
Required Skills & Required
Experience:
BS Degree in Civil Engineering field is required, MS in Engineering preferred.
Professional Engineering license is required.
Strong knowledge of wind mitigation, water resource and coastal restoration and protection projects.
10 to 15 years experience of increasing levels of project and client responsibilities required.
Familiarity with building codes as they apply to hazard mitigation projects.
Strong written and communication skills required.
Strong technical skills required.
Ability to coach and mentor junior staff preferred.
Experience managing sub-contractors and internal project team a plus.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
