General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) has an immediate opening for a Director of Business Development. The position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense services and systems. GDAIS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out critical national security missions supporting intelligence collection, processing and dissemination.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to identify and help acquire new business ventures for GDAIS and its customers. Specific Responsibilities
Primary responsibility will be to leverage GDAIS Mission Integration Systems core competencies in mission integration, strategic weapon systems and electronics design and development, and electronics manufacturing, into core and adjacent markets in support of growth objectives for the Critical Mission Systems (CMS) Line of Business (LoB). This senior business development professional will support the Critical Mission Systems Line of Business Vice President and Business Area Directors (BADs) with ongoing business development initiatives for follow-on and new business in the current and emerging markets served by GDAIS. The primary customer is the U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Program. However, there is current and emerging work with the U.S. Air Force, specifically in the strategic weapons community including Air Force Global Strike Command, PEO Strategic Systems, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Combatant Commander, STRATCOM.
The candidate should have extensive demonstrated business growth and business management experience; proven ability to strategically position the LOB for new growth; demonstrated record of successful new business development with the ability to influence decision-makers; motivated, self-starter able to operate alone in field and interact well with internal staff, translate needs and share customer perspective, comfortable working with all levels of the company up to and including the CEO and with the customers up to and including the Services Acquisition Executives. Responsibilities include: Develops and champions the General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) business vision as it relates to the Strategic Weapons, Fire Control Systems, and Nuclear Security market and lead the Critical Mission Systems business development team. Identifies and recommends new business opportunities based on operational needs, logistic plans and customer roadmaps. Formulates strategies and plans to capture new business and leads multiple capture managers and capture-related activities as necessary. Develops short and long-range business forecasts and marketing plans. Champions Internal Research and Development (IRAD) activities associated with growing the CMS business. Performs or leads administrative, analytical and research activities in support of the business development and acquisition, strategic planning, proposal development and/or marketing services functions. Gathers data on competitors and analyzes their prices, sales and methods of operation. Analyzes and researches customer information, product/service preferences, market size, penetration, marketing practices and trends. Monitors and compiles forecasts based on statistical data of past sales. This position will report directly to the MIS Division Business Development Director.
Basic Qualification
Strong leadership skills in people management, program execution, teambuilding, customer relationship management and business development / capture
Entrepreneurial characteristics coupled with the ability to work within the constraints of a large, multinational, defense-orientated organization.
Capable of developing and sharing a vision for the growth of the business, delegating responsibility while being accountable, and able to influence others by persuasion.
Proven success identifying and growing new business and developing short term and long term strategic plans for growth.
Knowledge of the DoD sustainment and acquisition process with sufficient technical background to verify and shape our capture strategy.
Experience operating in a technically driven, system integration business.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal communications and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences including senior stakeholders.
Ability to quickly assimilate and apply complex technical information.
Knowledge of financial reports, business measurements and operational metrics to ensure maximum business impact to drive optimal decision making.
10 or more years of business development, program or business management experience required, with the emphasis on demonstrated ability to successfully manage and grow complex programs/businesses.
BS in a technical or business related discipline.
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualification:
Experience with US Navy and US Air Force strategic markets, specifically SLBM / ICBM and associated Fire Control Systems and Nuclear Weapon Security Systems.
Domain expertise in the Strategic Fire Control / Weapon Control systems, US Navy D5 Missile, USAF Minuteman III ICBM weapon systems, and Nuclear Weapons Security requirements and implementations, including an understanding of the operational environment and familiarity of all subsystems including their interaction, operations and sustainment as well as the DoD acquisition process
Knowledge of the US Navy Strategic Systems Program, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Air Force Global Strike Command, and STRATCOM decision-makers, strategic direction, requirements generation and POM process
Relocate to the Fair Lakes, Va or Washington DC area and travel up to 50% of the time.
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
MS in a technical or business related discipline.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
