Senior Software Engineer with UX
The engineers at our client are building a language translation platform using the Typesafe stack, Cassandra and Elasticsearch, coupled with their high quality machine translation systems and translation productivity tools.
Their powerful REST API combined with an AngularJS based front end give non-linguistic analysts tools they need to access foreign language material.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you would help lead the design and implementation efforts for the entire software solution.
Responsibilitieso Hands on development of well-documented applications to meet government business needso Development of web application front end as well as the REST API.
o Production and review of architectural diagrams and planning documentation to help scope release scheduleso Source code review and integration of both internally and externally developed Scala, Javascript, Java, and in some cases, C+
libraries and applicationso Ability to create and implement user interfaces and components.
o Good communication skills to clearly articulate mockups and user experience (UX) feedback.
o Hands on development and maintenance of the continuous integration environment using Git, JIRA, Confluence, Stash, Selenium, and other toolso Motivated and creative problem solvers will have opportunities to influence future projects and guide research directions Job Requirementso Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or similar).
o 5 or more years of recent experience working with web application servers, APIs and other applications solving problems that require complex, multi-threaded, high-performance solutions.
o Prior experience with Scala, or similar functional languages, or at least a very strong desire to learn Scalao 1-2
years of HTML/CSS and JavaScript development experience working using frameworks such as Angular, Bootstrap, LESSo Solid JavaScript skills with AJAX, DHTML, and jQueryo HTML5, CSS3, solid semantic HTML a pluso Experience with cross browser compatibility and testingo Experience with additional platforms such as tablets and/or mobile devices a plusDesiredActive Secret or higher security clearances.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
