SUPERVISORY IMMIGRATION OFFICER (FDNS)

Relocation expenses are authorized if you are a USCIS employee assigned to the Refugee, Asylum and International Operations program and have been approved for rotation from an overseas assignment. Relocation expenses for USCIS employees assigned to an OCONUS location will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (FDNS) was established within USCIS to strengthen national security and the integrity of the country's legal immigration system by closely aligning the adjudication of immigration benefits and services with the identification of potential threats to national security and/or public safety, the detection and deterrence of fraud, and the use of law enforcement and intelligence information to ensure optimal security for U.S. communities. FDNS systematically identifies updates, and records indicators of fraudulent activities; manages fraud cases; identifies vulnerabilities and other weaknesses that compromise the integrity of the legal immigration system; and coordinates and provides logistical support in law enforcement and national security matters. FDNS is the primary conduit for information sharing and collaboration with law enforcement and intelligence agencies. GS-14:
You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
- Provide technical advice to officers engaged in programs administering the Immigration and Nationality Act (such as Adjudications, Inspections, Investigations and the Border Patrol). - Coordinate and direct the accomplishment of difficult and diverse functions or issues. - Establish and maintain liaison with management and government officials. - Develop inquiry plans and case strategies including the actions necessary to accomplish those objectives. Depending upon previous immigration experience, the new recruit may have to attend a 6-week BASIC training program at the discretion of FDNS senior management. Should FDNS senior management require this technical training, then the new recruit must successfully complete it, according to the standards of the agency. Selectees will be required to attend FOBTP (FDNS Officer Basic Training Program). A pre-requisite to FOBTP is attendance at BASIC (if not previously attended or exempted). Failure to complete required training will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position. Such failure will result in either reassignment to a different position, demotion, or separation by appropriate procedures. MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATION:
This position requires operation of a motor vehicle. You must possess a current valid driver's license.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
