Criticalist
Job Description:
VCA SouthPaws Veterinary Specialists and Emergency is seeking a board certified or residency trained Criticalist to join our growing, 24-hour emergency, critical care, and multi-specialty referral practice located just outside of Washington, DC We practice in a state-of-the-art, 34,000 square foot building with hyperbaric oxygen therapy, rehab, and all the monitoring equipment to support the functions of a Criticalist.
CritiCare, our combined emergency service and intensive care department, functions 24/7/365 for primary and referred emergency or critical care patients, walk-ins, and transfers from our other specialty departments.
CritiCare is staffed by 12 full-time Veterinarians (two board-certified ACVECC), with rotating Interns providing overnight coverage.
Other specialty departments are on-call to assist with Surgical, Neurologic, Oncologic, Internal Medicine, and Ophthalmologic patients, while our Radiology department sees patients for ultrasound exams 7 days-a-week.
SouthPaws CritiCare doctors rotate day, evening and weekend shifts, working on average 13 shifts per month.
